SAN DIEGO, May 27, 2011 —“Without courage all virtues lose their meaning.”—Winston Churchill
In these grave times, Americans must be bold in their actions. What
better way to demonstrate boldness than by restoring courage in America
and standing with Israel?
President Obama suggested that Israel return to its pre-1967 borders during a May 19th speech on the Middle East.
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu immediately rebuked Obama and affirmed that this proposal would make Israel "indefensible."
If you criticize the president, expect to be put on a black list or
called a racist. If you are conservative, expect vicious attacks
labeling you a homophobe, exploiter, or fascist. If you are pro-Israel,
expect to be called a 'human rights violator' by people who condone
terror and anti-Semitism.
Americans should not let themselves be paralyzed by fear, political correctness, or intimidation any longer.
Fortunately, one man is urging Americans to take a stand in defense of Western Civilization.
On May 16th, 2011, Glenn Beck unveiled plans for a ‘Restoring Courage’ rally in Jerusalem this August. He outlines the event below:
Last summer we set out to Restore Honor in Washington, DC. This
summer it is time to Restore Courage. Taking a stand is not always easy,
but now more than ever, it is imperative that we live with conviction
and do the right thing. It is time for us to courageously stand with
Israel.
Inspired by Beck, Nicole J. Pearce (in Massachusetts) and I (in
California) launched the 'Restoring Courage' U.S. movement. We realized
the great demand for ‘Restoring Courage’ events here in the United
States. A grassroots movement was conceived to complement Beck’s
Jerusalem event.
In less than a week, groups in 21 states signed on to host events
with 'Restoring Courage' U.S. More importantly, young adults have led
the charge to host rallies in conjunction with the August 24th event in
Jerusalem.
Organizers from various states stress the importance of this movement and affirm the need to stand with Israel.
John Howting, 'Restoring Courage' Michigan co-organizer, fears that Western Civilization will cease to exist if Israel and America are besieged.
“They want to kill the Saturday people first, then the Sunday people next."
'Restoring Courage' Georgia co-organizer Brandon Morse affirmed the importance of a healthy U.S.-Israel relationship, saying:
'This isn't just about a rally for support, but the reinforcement
of an idea, that not only in the face of dissent and strife we still
stand firm with friends on the good moral ground that throughout time
has been proven to be the straight and true path. We stand firmly with
our allies in Israel and her people who have proven our friend time and
again.'
‘Restoring Courage’ U.S. co-founder and 'Restoring Courage'
Massachusetts organizer Pearce believes that the United States must look
to Israel for guidance in respect to courage:
“Restoring Courage U.S. is a movement to stand by Israel in the
U.S., as well as to show support for Glenn Beck’s ‘Restoring Courage’
event in Israel. Israel has always been a strong and solid ally of the
United States; now they face a return to dangers of the pre-1967
borders. Through this all, the Israeli people have shown immense
courage. This courage is something that the U.S. could do well to learn
from.”
According to 'Restoring Courage' Georgia co-organizer Sara Johnson,
taking an unpopular and daring stand is consistent with a movement to
restore courage:
"Doing what's right isn't always popular, but it is necessary. We
believe what we are doing is the right thing to do, and even though we
can't be in Israel to attend the ‘Restoring Courage’ event, we want to
do our part to send a message across the globe that we stand with the
people of Israel, and the message of peace and stability they represent
in the Middle East."
Sammy Levine, ‘Restoring Courage’ California co-organizer, stated the
importance of working with an ally that shares common values, morals,
and goals:
“Supporting Israel and America is a moral imperative, as the two
countries embody our most important values: Freedom and the fight
against evil.”
Finally, 'Restoring Courage' Florida organizer Bryan Tupper emphasized the need to preserve the bond between these two nations:
“Israel is our friend of more than 50 years. We need to support
our friends. With the joining of our forces, we have a bond that is
strong."
