Robert Fitzpatrick is convinced the world will end this Saturday, May 21st, 2011. In fact, he‘s so convinced that he’s poured his life savings into letting people in New York City know. Fitzpatrick has spent at least $140,000 in proclaiming “judgement day.”

“Judgment Day will surprise people. We will not be ready for it,” Fitzpatrick told the New York Post. “A giant earthquake will render the earth uninhabitable.”

For the record, that quake will reportedly happen at 6 pm ET.

“God’s people will be resurrected. It is also the day that God stops saving anyone,” he explained.

In order to get the word out, Fitzpatrick has spent his life savings on 1,000 subway-car placards and ads on bus kiosks and subway cars. The ads are simple: “Global Earthquake: The Greatest Ever! Judgment Day May 21, 2011.”

Fitzpatrick’s predictions are included in a self-published book, “The Doomsday Code.“ He said the Bible offers ”proof that cannot be dismissed.”

The biggest dispute I have with Fitzpatrick's theory is the point of reference he is using to calculate his end time date. His main time point is dependent on the fact that the great flood was the last event that will be 'greater then or equivalent to' the rapture. This make no relevant sense to anyone who truly reads the bible as we know that GOD promised Noah and all humans that, and I am of course paraphrasing this, now that GOD had hit Ctl+Alt+Del with the flood he would never do that again. In fact he even gave us RAINBOWS as a reminder of his promise not to just wipe us all out without regard. Bottom line, the flood of Noah and the Apocalypse are nothing alike and therefore cannot be compared as a 'repeat' of history.

For those of us who are a little less 'religious' Fitzpatrick has done nothing but set the messengers of GOD back a few million decades. Non-believers are far from trampling over each other to hop on board. There is just to many other really cool comic book, fire and brimstone, sci-fi prophecies circulating out there to commit to a simple bible tale with little proof and coming from a debunked prophet like Fitzpatrick appearing by many to be looking for nothing but fame a dollar or two for the sale of his poorly written book.

I think TheThinkingAtheist had it right and Fitzpatrick and his crew should be mandated to spend just as much cash when they wake up May 22, 2011 to apologize for wasting all of our time.
